From October 31st to November 05th, Lisbon hosts the Volvo Ocean Race for the 3rd time being is the only European capital to welcome the biggest regatta around the world.
An experience described as the longest and toughest professional sporting event in the world, the Volvo Ocean Race is one of sport’s “Big Three” events, along with the Olympics and America’s Cup.
There is no prize money for the winners, but seeing your name etched into one of the silver rings of the Volvo Ocean Race Trophy is a prize beyond compare for sailors who grew up with dreams of emulating the legends of the race.
The Doca de Pedrouços in Algés is the place where everything happens this year, and where you can interact with the teams and boats, attend concerts or visit the different exhibitions, fairs, and activities, all with a common theme: the sea.
The Volvo Ocean Race started on October 11th in Alicante and it ends on June 30th in The Hague, Netherlands.
