International Museum Day
May 18th is the International Museum Day, “Hyperconnected museums: New approaches, new publics” is the theme chosen. Lisbon and its museums have prepared special programs of which we highlight:
Museu Nacional dos Coches
10h00-17h30 - "Where the Past Finds the Future: The Construction of the New Museum"
Video display presenting the story of the construction of the museum’s new building, observing the works and the relocation of the collection to the new facilities.
11h00 - Visit to the Conservation Workshop and Collections Reserves
The Museu dos Coches Reserves is a reserved space where about 8000 cultural items divided by areas such as equestrian art, Royal House equipment and coupling are organized and packaged in a controlled environment - which is rarely open to visitors.
Museu Nacional de Arte Antiga
Presentation «MNAA 12 Choices»
12 personalities choose, with complete freedom, 12 pieces from the MNAA collections. Over 12 months, the suggested routes will be offered to Museum visitors in a free brochure, which includes a short text by the author explaining the reasons for their choices.
Museu Nacional de Arte Contemporânea
Free guided tours for the general public. No prior registration is required.

Museu do Fado
15h00 - Performance by the students of the Museu dos Fado’s School of Guitar (directed by Mestre António Parreira)
16h00, 17h00 and 18h00 - Three unforgettable moments, singing “desgarrada” by the singers Jaime Dias with Pedro Galveias and Vitor Miranda with Diogo Rocha.
