Motel Lx 2017
From September 5th to 10th Lisbon hosts the 11th edition of the Lisbon International Horror Film Festival
The festival returns to scare the most susceptible, featuring the confirmed presence of two masters of horror: Alejandro Jodorowsky, Chilean director known for his cinematic surrealism, and Roger Corman one of the greatest filmmakers and independent producers in the history of American cinema.
Organized by CTLX, a non-profit cultural organization, the Lisbon International Horror Film Festival has promoted for the past 10 years the best of horror produced worldwide, while also encouraging the national production of genre films. It has conquered a very relevant positioning in the international circuit of genre film festivals, becoming one of the most expected and highlighted cultural events of the year in Lisbon.
Of the many films that compose this year’s program, we must point out “The Limehouse Golem”, of Juan Carlos Medina that revisits the history of Jack the Ripper. Another not to miss is “68 Kill”, by Trent Haaga, a black comedy that combines love, madness and money, and finally “Kuso”, an experimental film by the musician Flying Lotus.
The festival also presents “The Strange World of Latin Horror”, a retrospective that shows the genre films produced in South America and the Iberian Peninsula, part of the Ibero-American Capital of Culture.
Portuguese production is also present, especially the short film by Ricardo Leite, based on the text by Rui Zink, “A Instalação do Medo”, and the very rare “O Espírita” by Augusto Fernando, a sort of Portuguese Jesus Franco that is important to discover.
The festival will take place in several venues across the city, Cinema São Jorge, Teatro Tivoli BBVA, Cinemateca Júnior, Museu Berardo, Largo de São Carlos, Lounge and Beco da Rua da Moeda in Cais Sodré.
Evil is coming to Lisbon…come and see it.
