Grand New Year Concert
The farewell to 2017 and the welcome to 2018 will be made to the sound of Johann Strauss.
From December 29th 2017 to January 5th 2018, the Coliseu dos Recreios hosts the acclaimed production of the Strauss Festival Orchestra, the Grand New Year Concert, which already had an audience of more than five million viewers across Europe.
The ballet, inspired by the traditional musical festival celebrated each year in Vienna, with its stylized choreographies and dream costumes, restores an essential aspect to those musical compassions designed to accompany the dance.
The Grand New Year Concert will include an attractive selection of Strauss’s best waltzes, polkas and marches. The Strauss Festival Orchestra and the Strauss Festival Ballet Ensemble will perform well-known Austrian songs such as “Napoleon”, “Flower Festival Polka”, “Klipp-Klapp-Galopp”, “Emperor Waltz” and “Champagne-Polka” – not forgetting the most famous waltz of all, the magnificent “Blue Danube”, or the “Radetzky March”.
